Miomantis caffra the Praying Mantis.
These little beasts are one of my favorite insects.
They have an amazing personality for something so small.
This girl was a friend for a while and was real pleased when I bought out a fly for her to eat.
She learnt how to take it buzzing from my fingers pretty quickly.
The unfortunate thing about these insects is that they are an import from South Africa, they have been here since about 1986 and have done a very good job of displacing our only native mantis as they have rapidly spread.
They vary in colour from this very pale almost albino to the more normal green coloration.
